Question:

How do I register for an event at the SSFA 55+ Games?

Answer:

Individual competitors must complete an SSFA Provincial 55+ Games Registration Form. Registration forms are available on the SSFA website (middle of page) or a registration package can be obtained by contacting your district coordinator. The district coordinator contact information is available here. In addition to the registration form, there is a registration form waiver on the SSFA website that you must complete. The registration form and waiver, upon completion, are then submitted to your district coordinator. Individuals and team members must purchase a SSFA membership from their district and pay the registration fee for the Provincial competition to their district office.

Note: There is also a Competitor / Non-Competitor Health Form you must fill out for the games. Bring the form to the Games registration and this will be worn inside your name-tag for the duration of the 55+ Games.

Question:

Are there a limited number of entries from each district for individual events?

Answer:

Currently, all events are open competition, meaning there is no limit to the number of competitors from each district.

Question:

Can I participate in more than one event at the SSFA 55+ Games?

Answer:

Competitors may only compete in one event with the exception of poetry and short story writing.  However, within a particular event they can enter in more than one competition if the rules of the event allow it. For example, a competitor may register in doubles and mixed doubles in the pickleball event or compete in up to four events in track and field or swimming. Participating in one event will facilitate scheduling of all events.

The 55+ Provincial Games consists of two programs – the Provincial Curling Playdowns (winter event) and the remaining events are played in the summer. Competitors that have qualified to compete in the Canada 55+ Games event (such as ice curling) cannot participate in another medal competition at the 55+ Provincial games.  The participant(s) must confirm that he/she will register to compete in the Canada 55+ Games.

Curling participants who have not qualified to compete at the Canada 55+ Games may participant in one summer event.  The participant must pay the SSFA Provincial Games registration fee and must be a SSFA member in the applicable year. This will provide participation in the opening and closing ceremonies, banquet and transportation needs.  As well, other costs such as green fees for golf and bowling fees for the bowling event are included.
